Cats in Japan With this page I hope to showcase images of cats in classic Japanese settings. I only have a few photos to post at this time so please check back to see if I am lucky enough to catch more such candid scenes. The first image below features a calico cat rested upon large sake kegs at an Inari Shinto shrine in Shimizu. Shinto is the native religion of Japan and this 400 year old shrine is the oldest within the city limits. The second picture was taken at the gates of an old Buddhist temple in the mountains near our home. If you look closely you may spot a little orange kitty sitting on the steps below the gate. *** Click to enlarge ***
