Doraemon - Cartoon Robot Cat
 Doraemon is a friendly cat-like robot from the 22nd century and one of
the oldest (debuted in 1969) and most popular of all Japanese animated
characters. Sent from the future to assist a young boy named Nobita,
Doraemon makes use of his many wonderful tools to help Nobita stay
out of trouble. Devices such as the dokodmo-doa (everywhere door)
which allow the user to pass through to any other location just by saying that
location's name, and the moshimo-bokkus (the "if" box) which looks just
like a phone booth but which can change the world into anything one asks just by
saying "please" are used to help Nobita avoid getting yelled at by his
teachers (Nobita's grades are always terrible) and picked on by
neighborhood bullies. Nobita (and all the other boys for that
matter) is hopelessly in love with a pretty young girl named Shizuka
(whom Nobita is destined to one day marry). Nobita is
forever striving (and forever failing) to overcome his many faults in order to
one day prove himself worthy of Shizuka's affections, and these efforts
make up the storyline of many Doraemon tales. Fans of Doraemon
are ever eager to see what wonderful tool the robot cat will next pull from the
4th dimensional pouch in his tummy and to learn if Nobita will one day
win the heart of the girl he loves.
